After looking at the completed stone several times now, I'm still not sold on it. Dan doesn't like that there isn't any contrast between the stone and the siding. I think it looks kind of orange/peach. The PM said they could pressure wash it which would make a little difference, but I'm still not really liking it.
Despite the weather, they got a layer of blacktop down on the driveway. We assumed we would be driving on gravel until the spring, so this was a nice surprise.
I think it looks beautiful! It will look so completely different in the spring/summer when everything is alive and green. I think the combination of shutter/door and trim with the siding/stone is wonderful. I can understand your concern, we are building our first home and I have 2nd guessed (perhaps, 8th guessed) many of my decisions, but I think it looks absolutely fabulous! Congratulations on the new home!
ReplyDeleteI think the stone/siding combination is beautiful! I see what your husband means about the contrast, but I think it is just enough to be very tasteful. I think the white trim provides the contrast.
ReplyDeleteThe combination looks wonderful. I think it will definitely look different once things are less dreadful outside as well.
ReplyDeleteI think your stone looks beautiful. It has that 'just enough' contrast to it.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks lovely. And I agree, once there is landscaping and lush green grass it will look even better. The snow and gray skies of Pittsburgh aren't doing it justice!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it looks great! Just wait until you have green grass, and shrubs. It'll make a difference, you'll see. I do think it's lovely though!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great and I can tell you it will lighten or fade some. We had ours installed in may or June and it has already lightened.
ReplyDeleteCasey,
ReplyDeleteThis is your neighbor Kate (the cottage venice) they actually changed stone samples after we picked our colors. I had orginally picked buckeye, which at the time was a gorgeous grey type color. Well when our stone came in it was really brown and i threw a fit and made them change it to kentucky. I noticed that all of the stone colors that are in the model now are slightly different that our orginal samples. If you aren't happy i would say something. I had them change our stone and our shake siding color because samples slightly changed during the process. You house does look GORGEOUS...i'm just saying that if you aren't 100% happy speak up!
I'm pretty sure that it is different than the sample we chose. Someone else that's building on our street just started blogging and he posted a pic of the Aspen stone they selected, and it's definitely not the same sample that Dan and I saw.
DeleteIt's up and it doesn't look terrible, but I'm still going to ask Heather about it because I would have liked to have known that what we were getting was different than what we were expecting based on the sample we selected.
well the house does look great!!! Are you guys moving in soon? We are trying to get someone to could out and fix the back yards right now. There was supposed to be a drainage system put in but I have a full ice skating rink outside of our morning room right now. Def looking to get that fix at some point!!!
DeleteNVR's estimate last week is between Feb 3-10. However, our old house was supposed to close on Friday but the clear to close was rescinded because FHA rules have changed re: appraisals and they now expire after 4 months instead of 6 (so ours expired 3 weeks ago). They reordered the appraisal on Friday, and it's happening today, so we should be able to close on the old house by Saturday or Monday and then the new house sometime next week.
Deleteoh good. looking forward to having you guys next door. FYI---i think you have packages you need to pick up. i was worried about them sitting out there over the weekend.
DeleteReally? I have no idea what that could be. I have to leave for a meeting shortly, so we'll probably stop out later tonight to get them. Feel free to email me with any other house or neighborhood news, cmahaven@gmail.com. Thanks!
